The optimal size of your foilboard depends on your skill level, riding style, and preferences. However, as a general rule, the better you master foiling, the smaller the board can be. A long board with ample volume facilitates your water starts and is less prone to nosediving upon touchdown. On the other hand, a smaller and lighter board offers more agility and allows for better control during jumps.
